Bookkeeper

BOOKKEEPER Responsibilities:
  • Receive and process invoices from vendors; prepare invoices for customers
  • Use automated financial system to prepare detailed reports
  • Arrange for indemnity deposits in local banks; enter in cash journal
  • Reconcile discrepancies in branch accounts, determine cause of discrepancy, and make corrective action to amend error
  • Transfer details of business transactions from documents into computer; use computer to enter financial data into appropriate financial system
  • Maintain petty cash fund, write checks to reimburse fund, and reconcile fund
  • Respond to questions from internal and external customers regarding status of accounts and problem resolution
  • Perform other clerical functions
Required Skills:
  • Experience in the maintenance of financial records
  • Ability to perform difficult clerical tasks, perform mathematical computations, maintain records, and create reports
  • Ability to accumulate and develop financial information to prepare financial reports
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of and ability to use standard office equipment
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and use Microsoft Office software and Internet Explorer
  • Ability to lift boxes of checks; manual dexterity sufficient to separate and distribute checks and reports
  • High school diploma with two years of experience maintaining financial and statistical records, including experience with company bookkeeping transactions or an equivalent combination of education and experience
