Bookkeeper
BOOKKEEPER Responsibilities:
- Receive and process invoices from vendors; prepare invoices for customers
- Use automated financial system to prepare detailed reports
- Arrange for indemnity deposits in local banks; enter in cash journal
- Reconcile discrepancies in branch accounts, determine cause of discrepancy, and make corrective action to amend error
- Transfer details of business transactions from documents into computer; use computer to enter financial data into appropriate financial system
- Maintain petty cash fund, write checks to reimburse fund, and reconcile fund
- Respond to questions from internal and external customers regarding status of accounts and problem resolution
- Perform other clerical functions
Required Skills:
- Experience in the maintenance of financial records
- Ability to perform difficult clerical tasks, perform mathematical computations, maintain records, and create reports
- Ability to accumulate and develop financial information to prepare financial reports
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Knowledge of and ability to use standard office equipment
- Ability to operate a personal computer and use Microsoft Office software and Internet Explorer
- Ability to lift boxes of checks; manual dexterity sufficient to separate and distribute checks and reports
- High school diploma with two years of experience maintaining financial and statistical records, including experience with company bookkeeping transactions or an equivalent combination of education and experience
