BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
DIRECTOR
Oakville, Ontario Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development Sales in Oakville, this person will own the SME market in the GTA. The ideal candidate will be extremely motivated and have a prior track record selling complex services using consultative selling approaches within the interactive space. Direct prior experience working in an interactive agency environment is strongly desired. Qualified candidates should be comfortable working with a GTA travel territory. As an integral part of the new business team, the ideal candidate will:
- Lead cross-functional teams in assembling new business presentation strategies and comprehensive, strategically-driven responses to RFPs and RFIs within tight timelines
- Research and deliver executive-level strategic marketing presentations
- Gain and maintain knowledge in Webland practice areas including Pharmaceutical, Retail, Transportation & Manufacturing, Consumer Goods, Technology, Financial Services, etc. and apply that vertical expertise to winning new business in those verticals
- Demonstrate leadership ability and a teamwork orientation by successfully leading remote and local teams in high-pressure new business situations
- Uncover and create new business opportunities through independent prospecting including cold-calling, direct mail campaign follow-up, etc.
- Cultivate and maintain relations with complementary channel partners including Fortinet, Navigata, ABLE commerce, and others to develop and drive new business opportunities. Work with the partner network to develop joint business plans, value propositions and marketing programs
- Maintain a working knowledge of all services offered by Webland in order to match prospect needs with Webland solutions
- Able to cultivate trust and credibility with peers and maintain strong working relationships at all levels of Webland's distributed organization
- Able to conceive of and execute effective marketing and prospecting programs to increase awareness of Webland among qualified prospects
- Represent the company at networking functions and other industry-related events
Required Qualifications:
- Disciplined self-starter with 8+ years of consultative selling experience in a interactive agency environment or other related service industry
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
- Proven track record of developing effective new business strategies and customized presentations and proposals that win new business from sophisticated buyers within the interactive space
- Track record of meeting and exceeding a multi-million dollar quota for the last several years
- Excellent oral and written communication, persuasion, diplomatic and interpersonal skills; experience in researching, writing and delivering marketing proposals and presentations
- Able to work within a sales environment where leads are thoroughly screened and a large percentage may be turned down due to issues of fit and suitability with the company's overall strategic goals
- A demonstrated ability to work in a highly entrepreneurial setting where 'many hats' must be worn and decisions need to be made quickly sometimes with minimal management direction
- Ability to use sales skills to effectively overcome client objections and book prospecting meetings
- Ability to articulate and sell Webland value proposition to e-business decision makers within targeted accounts and industries
- Team player, strong work ethic, ability to work with minimal supervision, results-oriented, flexible, patient and adaptable
Preferred Qualifications:
- An understanding of internet technologies including content management, personalization, portals, as well as the key players in the market
- Experience in the Interactive space around consultative selling
